What makes a heritage kitchen feel modern?
Designed for a Cotswold Home.
Working within a period property requires sensitivity. The beauty of this space lies in its existing character: the exposed stone wall, the low timber beams, the natural light and the architectural details that give the room its sense of history.
Rather than competing with these features, the cabinetry was designed to sit quietly alongside them. The painted finish softens the kitchen and allows the texture of the stone to remain the natural focal point, while the brass handles and taps bring warmth and subtle luxury.
The result is a kitchen that feels as though it has always belonged to the house, yet functions beautifully for contemporary life.
Evie Willow specialises in creating bespoke kitchens for unique spaces, including heritage homes and listed properties, with each design shaped around the building, the client and the way the space will be used.
A Timeless Kitchen for a Characterful Home.
Although the kitchen feels timeless and traditional, it has been designed for modern use. Storage is carefully planned, work surfaces are practical, and the layout supports daily cooking with ease.
The cabinetry provides space for kitchen essentials, while the worktop run allows for preparation, serving and clearing. The sink, range cooker and storage all sit within a natural working rhythm, making the kitchen feel intuitive to use.
This balance between old and new is central to the success of the project. The kitchen respects the character of the property while quietly supporting the way the clients live today.
